Gordon Quinn: Filming Truth to Power
March 11, 2011
Gordon Quinn, Kartemquin's co-founder and Artistic Director, discusses the inspiration for his life and work as a filmmaker in a new video interview from the What's Your Calling? project.
Featured in the video are clips from Taylor Chain I & II, The Chicago Maternity Center Story, and The New Americans, with Gordon discussing the creation and audience response to all three films in detail. There are also some snapshots of current Kartemquin staff members and interns, plus a priceless shot of Gordon's High School Yearbook photo.
The Calling is a PBS mini-series and engagement campaign by Kartemquin's friends Kindling Group. Gordon was filmed and interviewed by Rachel Pikelny, a Producer on American Arab, Mormons Make Movies and A Good Man, and the video was edited by former Kartemquin intern Matt Lauterbach.
Chicago audiences can see Taylor Chain and a number of Kartemquin Films either directed or executive produced by Gordon Quinn later this year on WTTW as part of their celebration of our 45th anniversary. Get more information.
