The In the Family crew just returned from another busy trip to Washington DC. The group held a productive and thought-provoking Outreach Summit, met with Obama’s office to help get the word out about the recent passage of GINA, presented at the Genetic Alliance National Conference and screened the film to great audiences at two screenings at the E Street Cinemas. Kartemquin Odyssey

Last Wednesday, July 23rd, Kartemquin’s Leslie Simmer was a guest filmmaker at Kay Yang’s class of Odyssey Project graduates who are learning the fundamentals of documentary filmmaking at the University of Chicago.
The primary focus of the discussion was the ethics of documentary editing. Leslie is researching the possibility of developing a film on the Odyssey Project. -
