Hot Springs to honor Gordon Quinn, showing multiple Kartemquin films

The 2014 Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival will honor Kartemquin Co-founder and Artistic Director Gordon Quinn with a career achievement award. Gordon will also present a masterclass on documentary filmmaking ethics at the Arkansas-based festival, which runs October 10-19 and is the oldest all-documentary film festival in North America. On Beauty to World Premiere at Chicago International Film Festival

After five years in the making, Kartemquin's On Beauty is gearing up for an exciting world premiere in our hometown of Chicago as part of the Chicago International Film Festival. Please join us and invite your friends for the maiden screening on Saturday, October 18th at 1:15pm at the AMC River East 21 theater. Get tickets. We recently had a chance to share On Beauty with the nation for the first time when Rock Center with Brian Williams profiled Rick Guidotti and his pioneering work with Positive Exposure. The response we received back was INCREDIBLE. This was followed up by a righteous piece on Upworthy that featured our trailer at its core. Check out the great new trailer for On Beauty, a new Kartemquin documentary from In the Family director/producer Joanna Rudnick. The documentary, currently fundraising for continued production, follows former fashion photographer Rick Guidotti, who now focuses his lens on individuals living in the shadows of overt, physical genetic conditions under the auspices of his not-for-profit Positive Exposure. Three subjects of Rick's photography - Nadia, Jayne, and Sarah - also reveal their personal stories of overcoming rejection by their peers, standing up to society’s inability to accept difference and triumphing over their own physical obstacles. In the Family to be focal point of 2011 Issues in Clinical Ethics Conference

Joanna Rudnick is the featured Keynote Speaker at the Issues in Clinical Ethics 2011 Conference, where she will present a screening of In The Family for discussion. The conference takes place on February 4th at Loyola University Medical Center in Illinois. The conference title is "Genetics: Legal, Ethical and Social Issues" and it is presented by The Illinois Healthcare Ethics Committee Forum (IL HEC Forum) at the University of Illinois at Chicago, The Neiswanger Institute for Bioethics and Health Policy, Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and DePaul University College of Law Health Law Institute.
