Life Itself receives Special Award at Traverse City Film Festival

Michael Moore, founder of the Traverse City Film Festival, gave Life Itself a "Special Award" recognition at the festival this past weekend. See the full list of award winners. Roger Ebert's widow, Chaz, was attending the festival and accepted the prize on behalf of the filmmakers. Life Itself had previously played two sold-out screenings at the festival. First released in theaters on July 4th, the acclaimed documentary is currently still playing in over 50 cities in the US and Canada through Magnolia and Video Services Corp, with many more dates to come, and is available on demand and on iTunes. Today, June 18, is Roger Ebert's birthday! Join a Google+ hangout with us on this special day, and YOU may leave with tickets to the Los Angeles, Chicago, or New York premieres of Life Itself. Life Itself to be closing night film of AFI Docs

The closing night film of AFI Docs 2014 will be our documentary about Roger Ebert, Life Itself, at 7:30pm on June 21st at the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery. "Roger loved documentaries and, as a critic, had a profound impact on the success of so many of them over the years. To be honored at one of the very best festivals devoted to the art form would have greatly pleased him," said Life Itself director Steve James, who will attend the screening.
